Languedoc-Roussillon is the most southerly region of mainland France, sharing its southernmost border with Spain. The South of France’s reputation for good weather is well deserved and Languedoc receives around 300 days of sunshine each year.
Much of the area of Languedoc is dedicated to one of France’s most famous exports: wine. In fact, the Languedoc-Roussillon region boasts nearly 3,000 sq. kilometers of vineyards, producing an estimated one in every ten bottles of wine worldwide!
The city of Toulouse on the River Garonne is the capital of the province of Languedoc-Roussillon. The city features stunning architecture, with some buildings dating from as early as the 11th century. Many of the cities beautiful period buildings are rendered in its signature pink terracotta brick, earning Toulouse the name ‘La Ville Rose’/The Pink City.

Travelling to Languedoc-Roussillon
If driving by car, making use of either ferry or Eurotunnel, expect journey times to be around 13hrs when travelling from London and 16hrs when travelling from Manchester.
Non-stop flights from London airports to Montpellier are available and will take around 2-2.5hrs, with flights available from Manchester with a single stop taking around 5hrs.
