Caravan Description
Our mobile home on Les Charmettes in the Charente Maritime region, is designed to be a home from home, providing you with a perfect base to explore south west France & provide a haven after a busy day on the beach.
The mobile home is fitted with a TV, showing Freeview Sky channels, a DVD player and a selection of DVDs suitable for all ages.
The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a fridge freezer, full size oven/hob and a microwave.
There are three bedrooms, all with fitted wardrobes and electric radiators.
There are two bathrooms, both fitted with a toilet, sink and shower cubicle.
The water is heated by a gas boiler, with the gas supplied via the mains, just like at home, so there are no gas bottles to manage.
To manage the extreme heat of south-west France the mobile home is also fitted with air conditioning, which doubles as a heater for the colder mornings in the spring and autumn.
To make your holiday easier, we supply 4 adult bicycles, a selection of tennis racquets and balls, table tennis equipment and family games.
Location
Our mobile home is situated on Les Charmettes, which is Siblu's flagship park. The site is well managed and provides entertainment all day long. There are 4 swimming pools (all heated), including one which is indoors. There is a modern water play area for younger children, including a paddling pool for the youngest water babies.
There are clubs for children too, which operate twice a day, 6 days a week. In the evening there is a range of entertainment, which includes musical and dance shows, magicians and local bands. The entertainment in the summer is provided using an outside staged area, but in the cooler seasons this is indoors in the Equinox centre.
There are two bars, one inside, which also has sport on TV, so you won't miss your important football matches. At the entrance to the park is a Go-Kart circuit, which is excellent fun.
The park is close to Palmyre, which is the site of France's largest zoo, and a great place to spend a day. The beaches are all sand and stretch for miles. The nearest one is a 10 minute drive away, but it can also be cycled to safely, on wooded cycle tracks, in just 30 minutes.
Palmyre market takes place twice a week and offers the traditional French fayre, fresh bread, cheeses, olives, fish and cured meats. All the local villages have weekly markets.
The local area is famous for the best oysters in the world, along with an abundance of mussels. The best place to try these is La Tremblade, a small fishing village 5 miles from the mobile home, which also has a fresh fish market every morning.
The nearby towns of Rochefort and La Rochelle offer more activities, including the Hermione; a fully working replica of 18th century French frigate. There’s also an aquarium, professional Rugby Union matches and a selection of boutiques.
To the south is the major city of Bordeaux, which is about 90 minutes away by car.
We have been coming to this area for 20 years, and we still find new things to try out and enjoy.
