About the Area
If you would like any advice on places to visit, beaches etc., please don't hesitate to ask. We have put some suggestions below just in case you haven't visited the area before:Caldey Island - a lovely day out by taking the short ferry from Tenby beach but do book in advance as it is so busy on peak holiday periods.
Not far away is Laugharne Castle and Dylan Thomas Boathouse - history and poetry combined
On family entertainment there is the theme park of Oakwood; the very friendly family entertainment of Folly Farm with animal interaction, shows and an old style funfair; and Heatherton, providing an alternative experience, with go karts, crazy golf, archery etc.
On beaches…..
A personal favourite is Solva; a beautiful harbour with a lovely walk onto the hills with amazing views. It’s also a great place to kayak and SUP - do check the tides though.
Whitesands; a bit of a drive from the house past Solva and past St David’s, but a stunning beach and absolutely worth it (not dog friendly).
Barafundle Bay is amazing, voted the best in the UK.
Skrinkle Haven (near Tenby) is absolutely worth visiting - very steep steps, but the beach is spectacular. You may need to swim to get to it
North Beach Tenby.
Pendine Beach; a lovely 7 mile long beach where in 1923, Sir Malcolm Campbell broke the land speed record in his car ‘Blue Bird’ - there is a museum just off the beach.
On pubs etc……
My meet and greet lady, Gill, would be the best person to talk to as she has amazing local knowledge, but good pub food is at Wisemans Bridge or Harbwr Bar & Kitchen in Saundersfoot.
There are Tapas options etc. in Saundersfoot harbour, which is always very busy, depending on your palette, so book in advance to avoid disappointment - book in advance.
Rib and Oyster in Kilgetty is a great place to buy Artisan meat / fish or book a table to eat. Not the cheapest, but great food !
For a great coffee and home-made cake visit the café in Tenby Harbour, which is next to the church/beach/harbour. It’s very small and only has outside seating, but is worth going if you like a hot drink in a mug and a decent slice of cake.
The bakers just outside Kilgetty by the Shell garage (normally the fuel there is a decent price per litre) has some amazing rolls, pizzas, breakfast baps, cakes etc. It is always really busy, so I would go early in the morning to avoid missing out.
Sunday lunch at the Mulberry Tree in Saundersfoot is a personal favourite. Again, book in advance to save disappointment.
The Severn Spice Indian restaurant in Kilgetty, is really good, as is the Dragon Palace Chinese restaurant on the way into Saundersfoot - both deliver to the property.
Fish and Chips - again Kilgetty has a very good one. It’s always busy especially on a Friday, and only takes cash (there is a cashpoint at the Co-op in Kilgetty). Saundersfoot has two very good chip shops, the one by the Harbour entrance is lovely, but pricey.
Depending on your food choice, Narberth has some lovely restaurants, Gastro pubs, family friendly eateries and some amazing delicatessens.
