Out & About
Rye Harbour is an area of outstanding beauty, ranging from relaxed beaches and long walks to beautiful cobbled street villages oozing charm to an overflow of history and culture taking you back in time through literary greats and their homes or the battles of 1066.
Whatever it is you like to occupy your interests and time Rye and the surrounding area can oblige.
The historic Cinque Port of Rye is only a 10 minute drive away where you will find narrow, winding cobble streets, many antique shops, boutiques, cafés, restaurants and an historic castle to explore.
Dungeness is a few minutes away with one of the largest expanses of shingle in Europe. It is a designated nature reserve. There is a good local bus service that stops just outside the park entrance.
Things to do in the area include Romney Warren Golf Club, Port Lympe Wild Animal Park, Action Water Sports, Yesterday's World, Rye Heritage Centre, The Hop - farmlands angling centre, Go Ape, Knock Hatch Adventure Park, Rye Nature Reserve, Shipwreck Museum, Camber Sands beach, Rye Museum, Ypres Tower, Camber & Bodiam Castles, Bluebell Railway, several National Trust properties and gardens, fishing, bird watching and much more. There is so much to occupy your time within this stunning area that I cannot begin to describe them all.
If shopping and food are your interests or necessities then again they are here in abundance, including local farmers' shops, fresh produce, deli's, restaurants and local pubs - Rye and the surrounding area has it all and more.
