Leitir House caravan is located within an area of great landscape value at Letterfinlay in The Great Glen. It occupies an elevated position overlooking Loch Lochy on our private 4.5 acre plot which it shares with Leitir House.

Effort has been made to minimise the caravans impact on the environment. All the waste water and sewage from the van is treated on site in a dedicated treatment plant, the resulting discharge is clean enough to go straight into the loch. Rainwater is harvested and treated for use in the caravan . The electricity is also generated on site using a combination of P.V solar panels (1.7 Kw) and micro hydro electric installation (500w). The caravan is essentially off grid, and to my knowledge the only one in Scotland. Good for the environment of course but it also helps to keep the cost down to you. General recycling of paper etc is also encouraged.

The ground around the caravan is left to grow wild.

The views from the caravan are spectacular; the ground behind the caravan rises quite steeply but gives walkers access to the open countryside and mountains beyond. Bear in mind that although the area around the caravan is flat, the surrounding ground is steep, rough and uneven.

The caravan itself is from 1998, so no double glazing or central heating but it has been recently decorated and has new beds and bedding throughout. In addition, all the old gas appliances have been replaced by electric ones.

This 10m x 3m caravan has a well equipped kitchen with electric oven and grill, 2 ring ceramic hob, fridge, toaster, microwave and a washing machine is also available - please ask. In the lounge/dining area you will find a TV, DVD,DAB Radio/CD player with iPod dock and USB charging points.

There is one single bedroom and one double bedroom so it is spacious and comfortable for 3.

The bathroom has a step in shower, toilet and wash basin.

The caravan also has a boot room with plenty of storage.

Outside there is a large private seating area

Wi-Fi is not available, but 4G is available in the area - we use EE and Vodaphone.

Linen, towels and electricity are all included in the hire cost. If you are prevented from traveling here due to government restrictions then any monies paid will be refunded.

Private parking is available for cars and small vans less than 5m.

We have space for canoe/camping trailers and arrangements can be made to launch canoes into the Loch.

The drinking water for the caravan is from a private supply. It is treated by filtration and sterilised by means of a UV lamp. The quality of the supply is tested regularly ,details on request.

About the Area

Access to Leitir House Caravan is from the A82, from where a 100m track leads up to the caravan and parking area. From Spean Bridge, after about 7 miles, pass the Whispering Pines Hotel on your left. Then in 200m as the road comes down to the Lochside, take the next entrance on the right by the Old Inn. From Inverness, on approach to Letterfinlay, pass the viewing area car park with its burger van on your right hand side, then after 200m take the next left entrance by the Old Inn.

Do not follow Sat Nav to PH34 4DZ. Chose Letterfinlay as the destination on the A82. You will end up in the woods on the wrong side of the Loch if you use the postcode only.

There is a hotel with bar and restaurant serving food all day just 100m away. They also offer some spa beauty treatments too. City link buses stop 100m away.

Other places to eat - The Barge at Laggan Lochs, Loch Oich foods cafe, Water leisure park on Loch Oich and a good cafe in Spean Bridge.
