Therefore we have put together below a selection of caravan owners in Cornwall who allow you to take your four legged friend on a holiday so they don't miss out. And remember, when planning a visit to any beach it’s always a good idea to check the tides first!

Before setting off it is important to note that there are several types of dog friendly beaches in Cornwall, ranging from:

  • Beaches where dog walking is allowed all year round
  • Beaches where dog walking is allowed during autumn and winter but has restrictions during the peak holiday season (restrictions are often as simple as ensuring your dogs is kept on a lead or dog-walking being limited to a certain part of the beach)
  • Beaches where dog walking is allowed with restrictions all year round (see above)
  • Beaches where dog walking is banned year round (please note, Guide dogs are exempt)

As for specific dog friendly beaches, here are a few recommendations

Trebarwith Strand is an all year round dog friendly beach in the north of Cornwall. Benefitting from good surf, rock pools and a pub close by.

Fistral Beach in Newquay, toward the north of Cornwall, is an all year round dog friendly beach and also offers great opportunities for activities like surfing and body-boarding or simply enjoying the picturesque scenery.

Perranporth Beach, south of Newquay, is another excellent location for dog walking. The beach is generally un-restricted but owners must keep their dogs on a lead between the hours of 9am to 5pm during July and August. This beach also features a pub!

Gwynver Beach in the south of Cornwall, near to Newlyn, is an all year round dog friendly beach featuring beautiful sands. Excellent for walking or swimming.

Gyllyngvase Beach, near to Falmouth in the south is a good choice if you are holidaying out of season as dogs are banned from Easter until the beginning of October. With many activities to try it can be a nice walk or a complete day out.

Widemouth Bay beach on the North Coast is a beach 3 miles from Bude which is very popular with surfers. Dogs are welcome on the Southern side of the beach all year round, but there is a dog ban on the Nothern side between Easter Sunday and 30th September.

Maenporth beach, on the South Coast is great for children as it has shallow water, but there is a dog ban in place between Easter Sunday and 30th September.

Marazion beach is a wonderful beach in West Cornwall which offers a granite causeway at low tide leading to St Michael’s Mount, but dogs are not welcome from 8am to 7pm between May 1st and 30th September.

Porthmeor beach is just a stone’s throw from the historic St Ives and holds a Blue Flag Award. There is a seasonal dog ban in place from the Sunday before Easter to 30th September.

Porthleven beach has three miles of glorious sand to explore, but has a season dog ban that runs from 7am to 7pm between Easter Sunday and 30th September.

Sandymouth beach offers the ability to walk the two miles between Bude and Sandymouth when the tide is low.

Whitsand Bay beach is three miles long and is made of four golden sand beaches that has stunning scenery thanks to the back of cliffs.

Harlyn Bay beach is famously known as one of the best family beaches in Cornwall as it offers wide open space, with rock pools for the children to discover all sorts of creatures.

Porthcothan beach is an all year round dog friendly beach backed by grassy dunes, which when the tide is low connects to smaller coves.

Crantock beach is looked after by the National Trust so it wonderfully looked after, and offers golden sandy beaches backed with sand dunes.
