Out & About

Should you find time to venture off site, there are some lovely places to visit in the surrounding areas, including:

. Berwick Swan Centre - the local sports centre in Berwick. Booking in advance ahead of your arrival is advised, via the Active Northumberland App

. Spittal Beach - located in Tweedmouth. A fantastic beach, with amusement arcade, splash park, play park and ice cream kiosk.

. Cheswick / Goswick beach - located about one mile from the park. Head for Berwick and turn right at the Island View.

. Paxton House - a great estate with play park, overlooking the River Tweed.

. The Maltings - an arts and entertainment venue with cinema, located in Berwick

. Berwick Walls - a lovely walk all the way around the Elizabethan walls surrounding Berwick is highly recommended. Also worthwhile is a walk along the river, under the bridges to see the old castle.

. Pot-a-Doodle-Do - located at Scremerston, is a great place to visit with kids. It has a lovely restaurant and creative activities for the children

. Holy Island (Lindisfarne Island) - a favourite with many guests and well worth a visit - remember to check tide times for crossing!!!

. Bamburgh Castle / Bamburgh beach - great for all the family including dogs.

. Alnwick Gardens - stunning grounds with lovely waterfalls, and don’t forget to go to the amazing tree house.

. Alnwick Castle - well known as the filming location of Harry Potter and a great fun day for the kids - they can even learn how to fly a broomstick!

. Seahouses - a wonderful little harbour and great for fish and chips. It’s a lovely seaside town with a relaxed atmosphere, interesting shops and amusements.

. Billy’s Farne Island boat trips - sailing from the harbour, these are bookable at Seahouses.

. Grace Darling museum - fantastic local fishing town museum located in Bamburgh.

. Northumberland Zoo - located at Felton, near Morpeth, with enough cuddly animals to keep the family happy.

. Heatherslaw Light Railway - The Ford Etal Railway, a nice relaxing pastime for an afternoon on the steam railway, located about 4 miles from the Park.

. East Links Family Park - about a 40 minute drive from Haggerston Castle, located in Dunbar, where you will find animal enclosures, train rides, go karts, bouncy castles, and much more.

. Whitehouse Farm - a great opportunity to get up close around animals.

. Berwick Boat Trips - many days there are lots of dolphins to be seen out on these trips.

. Cocklawburn Beach - a lovely little beach with lots of rock pools.

. Berwick Museum and Art Gallery - full of history

. Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre - this is a brilliant day out for the kids to see these beautiful horses

. Frank n Knight Tours - a haunted tour around Berwick, suited more to adults and older children

. Feed the seals at Eyemouth - the children love this brilliant experience and there's some lovely spots to eat too!
