The property has been modernised and improved over the years, most recently in 2018/19.

The ground floor has a living room/dining area with a sea view from the living room window. A woodburning stove is provided in the living area. Another flight of steep cottage style stairs leads from the first floor landing to the second floor bedroom, which has two single beds, bedside drawers, a chest of drawers, moveable hanging rails and a sea view.

Sea View Cottage has gardens front and back. The front garden has a paved area surrounded by planted beds, a wooden bin enclosure and steps leading down to a front yard, which gives access to the front porch. NEW FOR 2022 - a super sea facing, timber sun deck and observation platform is provided in the rear garden adjacent to the cottage, complete with new outside furniture.

Location

The Island and Royal Manor of Portland is a tied island, approximately 4 miles long x 1.75 miles wide, which juts out into the English Channel and connected to the mainland by Chesil Beach. The 'Underhill' area of Portland, where Sea View Cottage is situated, consists of a mass of traditional stone-built properties, cascading down the hillside until they almost reach the sea - great for exploring! Think Cornwall but (for a lot of the UK popluation anyway) much closer!

Once you've booked to stay, we give you access to our great, award-winning, online cottage guide book which, in addition to full information on the cottage and how it operates, also gives you access to our Local Area Guide with information and contact details of local beaches, cafés, pubs, restaurants and takeaways, plus local places to visit and things to do. These include: nature reserves, Castetown D-Day Centre & Museum, Portland Museum, Portland Bill lighthouse, Portland Castle, Rufus Castle, the Royal Manor Theatre, Tout Quarry Sculpture Park, the Verne High Angle Battery, sailing, tall-ship sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, coasteering, alpaca trekking, horse back riding, climbing, fishing, diving, cliff camping, walking, mountain biking and paragliding.

As you can see from that list, for a relatively small island, Portland really punches above its weight. And with our online cottage guide book on your phone, you'll have easy access to it all!
