About the Area
Ladram Bay is a 5 star holiday park with great facilities, including a swimming pool, large play park, gym, arcade and adventure golf to name a few.The entertainment staff are great and have a full entertainment programme for all the family (plus guest artists).
Ladram Bay Holiday Park is situated near the village of Otterton, which is within walking distance. Here you will find a pub and fantastic café /mill to visit.
Budleigh Salterton, which is close by, is a very quiet coastal village and great for an evening beach BBQ and swimming/paddle boarding.
The area is great for birdwatching, following a recent extension of the wetland nature reserve between Budleigh and Otterton.
Sidmouth is an attractive coastal town, and Connaught Gardens is particularly good to visit.
Exmouth has fantastic sandy beaches and a marina. The Point is a good pub/restaurant on the marina or if you want up-market, the latest trendy bar/grill is Mickey's (if you can get in!). There are a number of cruises that can be taken from the marina too.
There is a cycle path along the Exe estuary which links Exmouth to Exeter via some lovely coastal villages, such as Lympstone and Topsham. Bikes can be rented at Darts Farm on the outskirts of Topsham, which is also a good destination for shopping and food. The cycle path continues around the other side of the estuary, and a ferry from Starcross to Exmouth links the circular route.
Dartmoor is great for seeing the wild ponies. Postbridge and Dartmeet are nice spots to visit, as you can paddle/swim in the river. Widdecombe in the Moor has a couple of great pubs
Other places worth a visit include:
. Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth
. Crealy Theme Park, between Ladram Bay and Exeter
. Bicton Park, which is very close to Ladram Bay and boasts lovely gardens and children's play areas both indoors and outdoors. It's a bit pricey, but worth it for the indoor play and a wet day as it's huge!
There are trains from Exmouth to Exeter (park behind M&S). Traffic in Exeter can be a pain, therefore it can be easier to get the Exmouth train.
Lyme Regis and Beer are good for a day out too. Beer is a beautiful coastal village with shingle beach and clear waters. Lyme Regis has a great sandy beach, nice shops and is definitely worth a visit. Probably worth getting there early in the holiday periods though!
The towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe are further afield but well worth a day trip, as are the surf beaches of North Devon.
