Our Winchelsea holiday home for hire is sited in the private grounds of our house at Winchelsea Beach, which is situated in East Sussex between the historic Cinque Port town of Rye (10 minute drive) and Hastings – a full-on seaside town.
Winchelsea Beach has a Co-op (7-11), a doctor’s surgery and two pubs; The 31 and The Ship. Opposite the shops is Dogs Hill Road, which takes you to the recreation ground that used to be the old Winchelsea Harbour, but is now silted up with the children's playground on it and the local football teams etc. Continue along Dogs Hill Road to the beach (with small car park) although this is only a 6-7 minute walk from the caravan.
Walkers are welcome and there are many footpaths in the area to explore.
There is also a coastal nature reserve that has many lakes and sea flooded areas for many of the summer visitors, as well as the locals, which would be off interest to the ‘twitchers’. Camber Castle is also situated on the Marsh near the reserve.
Also close by is fishing, beach and boat from Rye Harbour. Wind surfing is very popular off the beach too.
There is a café' a 1/4 mile away on the Sea Road towards Pett Level, that offers a fine breakfast.
