THINGS TO DO PEVENSEY AND EASTBOURNE
Pevensey Castle is a medieval castle and is run by English Heritage. It is however free to get into the grounds and it’s a great place for a picnic and games of frisbee. It is a nice walk across the fields alongside the river. We have spotted all manner of wildlife on this walk including kingfishers. There is a marked footpath and it passes through the fields where you may encounter cows. It goes across the railway line. You will have to negotiate a style. There are three pubs at Pevensey. The Smugglers Inn, The Heron and The Royal Oak and Castle. Come out of the gate and turn right, you will see the sign for the castle on the opposite side of the road.
Bikes can be hired at Lets Bike in Eastbourne or there are App bikes at the Harbour.
You can take a boat trip around the harbour and sometimes there are boat trips out to the lighthouse at sunset. If I know there is one whilst you are staying I will tip you off.
Whilst there is a pool at the park you could go to the family pool at the Sovereign Centre that has a wave machine and slides. There is usually a water disco on a Friday night that is a bit of fun. Turn left out of the gate and follow the A259 to Eastbourne, you will see it on the left.
If you carry on there is Treasure Island. Pirate themed fun for the little ones, soft play, paddling pool etc.
Princes Park on the opposite of the road has a big cafe and outdoor seating for picnics, a plethora of ducks to feed and a play park with swings etc.
Buzz Watersport Centre has paddle boarding, canoe experiences and other water sports. They are friendly and helpful.
Next to the lifeboat is a small fresh fish shop selling fresh local fish.
