About the Area

Our mobile home is siuated on Camping du Quinquis; a fantastic and highly rated site (rated excellent on Trip Advisor). Camping du Quinquis is safe, clean and great fun, with 3 excellent swimming pools, a bar, a superb takeaway, bike hire, wi-fi, sports field, kids' club (opens 23rd July to 30th August, Mon-Fri), mini-golf, a tennis court and a football pitch. There is bike hire available on site too.

The site is situated in an unspoilt corner of southern Brittany near Lorient, about 2km from several excellent beaches with some great walks. There is even a children’s animal park within walking distance. The weekly quiz usually involves a bit of a singsong and during high season management try to have at least one night a week with a local band playing. Please don't ask for a pint of English bitter at the bar, but you can be sure that all major sports events will be on TV.

The site has a friendly reception desk selling basic groceries. Fresh bread can be ordered daily and fresh eggs are available providing their own hens lay. The site has a fantastic take-away run by a retired Parisian Chef who creates fabulous dishes at very reasonable prices.

Camping du Quinquis is a really sociable, family oriented campsite that offers a little bit of everything in an uncommercialised and natural setting. Summertime entertainment includes a weekly football tournament, the occasional talent show, band nights, along with a little Karaoke or a disco night. The site also has table tennis and Scrabble competitions each week and the moonlight swims are legendary.

Quinquis is owned and run by an English couple - Carole and Andrew, and they have spent the last 10 years making the campsite the fabulous place it is.

NOTE - If you are looking for a site with non-stop entertainment 24 hours a day, loud discos all night, numerous bars and restaurants – this site is not for you.

Local Places to Visit

Le Pouldu has 3 excellent beaches, Kerou, Grand Sable and Ballignet, great for bathing or water sports. Clohars-Carnoet is the nearest town with shops, banks and a post office.

Doelan is a delightfully unspoilt fishing harbour where they have filmed the French version of Doc Martin.

Guidel is bigger than Clohars and Doelan and is a good place to visit on Sunday mornings for the market. It also has 2 fabulous beaches Guidel Plage and Larmor Plage, where you can bathe, walk or just sip a coffee and watch the world go by. Head for Moelan to visit the beaches of Kerfany, Les-Pins and Trenez where you can cross the causeway to explore the German gun batteries.

Quimperle is a fair size town with all kinds of shops and facilities and a good market on Fridays.

Pont Aven is about 20km north of the campsite and is famous for the residency of Paul Gaugin and his pals. It is very picturesque with the river running through the middle of the town and about 35 art shops and galleries.

Lorient, just 30 a minute drive away, has fabulous shops and a fantastic League 1 football club. Each August around 700,000 people from all over the world invade the Celtic land of Lorient for the Festival Interceltique. The historic sailing museum and submarine pens are also a great attraction.
