Alternatively, if you want to explore without driving, we provide 2 bikes which enables you to visit the Cyclo Trott, which is off road and only pedestrians and cyclist use it.
When you've worked up an appetite there's a shop, the Oasis Bar and Terrace, a restaurant, pizzeria or takeaway on site. There are many top quality restaurants in nearby La Palmyre, Arvert and La Tremblade.

"L'EQUINOXE" is the major entertainment venue at Les Charmettes where the entertainments team organise and present a varied programme each day and evening The kids will make lots of friends at the PAWS Club for 1-4s, the TIGER Club for 5-12s or the T-Co Club for 10-14s.

The Kids Clubs include:

PAWS for children aged 1 – 4, Tiger Club sessions for children aged 5-9 where they can play games, paint or treasure hunt to use up the energy while you enjoy two hours peace and quiet or have a game of tennis. For toddlers there is a Paws Club where parents can join in the fun or simply sit back and watch T-Co is a popular club, which caters for the 10's to teens and another great way to wear the kids out. You may have no alternative but to put your feet up and relax although there is also an adults club as an alternative!

For those who prefer to experience the country they are visiting we would recommend:

-Horse racing (1 km) Hippodrome de Royan at La Palmyre (15 meetings per year)
-Vineyards of the Medoc, take the ferry across the Gironde from Royan
-Visit Martell in Cognac
-Narrow gauge railway (Le Train de Mouettes) along the Charente estuary from La Tremblade
-Casino (8km) by the beach at Vaux sur Mer
-The largest zoo in France at La Palmyre
-Daily antiques market (8km) at St Augustin sur Mer
-Fort Boyard and the Isles of Aix, Re and Oleron and, of course, La Rochelle
-Dine at sunset overlooking the Gironde at St Palais
-For experienced sailors, hire a yacht from La Palmyre marina
-The best oysters in France at Marennes (8km)

We give you as much advice on travel arrangements including your ferry crossings with Brittany Ferries, Hoverspeed, Brittany Ferries Ireland, or Irish Ferries and Euro Tunnel. We also give you advice on flights as possible, for example many of the no frills airlines are now flying to nearby Bordeaux or La Rochelle.

In your holiday pack we provide you with a route plan from most of the major ports which we update each year. We even provide alternative directions around known traffic hotspots for peak season.

We do all this because we know that if we don't provide you with a good service you are hardly likely to book again or pass our details to family and friends. We have many families who have been booking through us for several years now - they have also grown to love the freedom Les Charmettes offers to all holidaymakers.
