Our holiday cottage is located in Wallaston Green, Hundleton, Pembroke. In addition to being near to famous beaches of Tenby and Saudersfoot, there are a number of local castle sites within easy reach that are worth visiting, including the very popular and still-occupied Pembroke Castle (birthplace of King Henry VII), Carew Castle and Water Mill and Manorbier Castle.
A full day could also be spent happily at Anna's Welsh Zoo, made famous by TV personality Anna Ryder Richardson, or at the Dinosaur Park a few miles down the road just west of Tenby (another famous Welsh seaside resort with its own castle).
The local Folly Farm will also provide great entertainment for animal lovers.
Those who are more active or young-at-heart may prefer to go to the Oakwood Theme Park, Heatherton World Activity Park or the Blue Lagoon swimming complex.
There are boat trips available to see dolphins, porpoises, puffins, cormorants, gannets and seals from Neyland Marina to Skomer and Skokholm Islands, each featured on BBC’s Springwatch. Boat trips are also available from New Quay to explore Cardigan Bay or visit Ramsey Island.
Other worthwhile visits a little further away include the Big Pit Mining Museum and the National Botanic Gardens of North Wales. Horticulturalists may wish to visit the more local Picton Gardens, Upton Castle Gardens, Colby Woodland or Hilton Court Gardens
If you do not fancy cooking, then try The Speculation Inn, just a mile away. You could also go to the Stackpole Inn after having enjoyed walking various routes that include going around the walled Stackpole Gardens, over the local footpaths and seeing sandy beaches, visiting the National Trust's Stackpole Lily Ponds (again highlighted on BBC's Springwatch programme), visiting Broadhaven South beach or finally along the Pembrokeshire Path taking in the notorious Barafundle Bay.
Shops and other eating places can be easily found with the many Inns and restaurants in the nearby traditional towns of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock.
