Let’s take a look at the popular seaside resort of Skegness in Lincolnshire

Most of us like seaside caravan holidays and one of the most popular seaside destinations to visit in Lincolnshire is none other than Skegness, it was one of the first seaside resorts to welcome visitors and is still immensely popular with families, couples and friends to this day. This beautiful destination is in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire.

Whether you live nearby, far away, enjoying a day trip or on a well deserved holiday you will always be able to fill your day with many things to do. From the award winning Blue Flag beach to taking in a big name show at The Embassy Theatre, there’s something here for every member of the group.

Take a stroll along the beach front and be enticed by all the wonderful family-friendly attractions Skegness has to offer, ten-pin bowling, go karting, funfairs, amusement arcades, crazy golf and then take a load of your feet and wind down in the Compass Gardens and watch the world go by.

Throughout the year Skegness is home to some amazing festivals and carnivals that take place.

Night time entertainment is no more limiting than during the day the Embassy Theatre have stars on stage throughout the week, you can go and see that film that you have been dying to watch but never get the chance, end the day with a drink in a trendy bar or have a relaxing meal in one of the many restaurants. You could even eat fish and chips on the beach while watching the waves roll in.

Well worth a visit is to Bateman’s Visitor Centre (not just for beer lovers), the 18th Century windmill that overlooks the River Steeping, is an enthralling brewery tour with old fashioned brewing and Bateman’s artefacts with letters from 1899. There is good food, beer (and other beverages) and a gift shop with unique gifts on offer also.

The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway gives you the wonderful chance to experience the bygone era of the steam train. It operates on a stretch of line that used to form part of the Great Northern route from Boston to Grimsby, at the moment the steam trains run between Ludborough and North Thoresby, but work is in progress to extend the line towards Louth.

Did you know that Skegness was where the Butlin’s story began?

If you are looking for somewhere to stay during your visit to Skegness then Butlin’s is the place to be.

It was founded in 1936 by Billy Butlin, it was the UK’s first ever holiday camp and is just as popular today as when the story began. The holiday park family are proud of their heritage, so have lots of the original elements still within the park, from the vintage stall games to the traditional fair. Billy Butlin chose this spot for the site for the stunning Blue Flag beach right on your doorstep.

Why not make the most out of the adrenaline fuelled outdoor activities when the sun is shining down and brightening up everyone’s day? But don’t worry, we all know the UK is well known for the weather not playing ball, so we have plenty to do inside to keep you and the family entertained. You won’t want to leave!

Outdoor activities include high ropes, climbing walls, go-karts, freefall and of course beach days building sandcastles and splashing in the sea! The indoor activities are just as exciting with laser tag, the huge Splash Waterworld, bowling, amusements and entertainment in one of FOUR entertainment areas.

Splash Waterworld was renovated in 2018, the pool has nearly 3000 square feet of fun! There are also high-speed flumes, racing rapids, a winding vortex that sends you spinning into a giant bowl. Don’t worry the tots have a pool to play and splash in too.

Then after a fun filled day you can rest and recharge in the New England-style apartments for the home away from home feel or choose the more nostalgic colourful Seaside apartments. But if you fancy being close to where the action is then the Fairground apartments are a 5 minute stroll to the entertainment venues.
