About the Area

Bideford Bay Holiday Park is very family orientated with lots for the children to do, including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, crazy golf, an adventure playground, nature walks, coastal walks and lots more.

The restaurant and entertainment centre are situated in The Manor House. There is also a shop (closed from November to March) and launderette on site.

Passes are required for all amenities, which are not included but can be purchased from the main office.

Please note that the amenities are seasonal so closed from November to March. During this time the launderette is open daily however.

There are some fantastic walks from the site to suit any level of exercise; for those with dogs we promise you'll love it. The birds, flora and fauna you witness on the various walks east or west of the park are stunning too, so take binoculars with you. The hidden secret of this park are the steep and dramatic landscapes showing our English coast at its best; unspoilt and breathtaking.

A coastal path which runs through the woodlands below the park is a site of special scientific interest containing a special Oak called Sessile and also contains nationally important communities of Atlantic climate and woodland lichens. Make sure you wear your wellies as the path is typical of a natural woodland walk.

If you are a star gazer, however knowledgeable you may be on astronomy, the sky at Bideford is amazing! Star-studded beauty, which will take your breath away; you will never tire of gazing skywards.

There is a path which leads down to Bucks Mills, a fishing village which winds its way down to a pebble beach with a waterfall. You will also see the remains of lime kilns and there are great rock pools to enjoy.

Westward Ho! beach is about a 20 minute drive away; a beach geared up to cater for every tourist's needs. With seaside shops, toilets and a range of food outlets, Westward Ho! is a popular family beach with a Blue Flag status. Made up of a long sandy beach backed by a pebble ridge with Northam Burrows Country Park accessible at one end, this beach offers the best of both sand, rock pools and nature. RNLI Lifeguard service is available from May to September and the beach is popular with windsurfers, surfers and swimmers. Dogs are permitted from October to April on the whole beach and all year round at the Northam Burrows end. There is ample car parking and disabled parking close to the beach.

The historic fishing village of Clovelly is a few minutes away from the site; make your way to the small, leafy park of Mount Pleasant with fantastic views across Bideford Bay.

Exmoor Zoo is one of the most popular Zoos in the UK and is packed with fun attractions. This Zoo is the only one where visitors are guaranteed to meet the elusive Exmoor Beast face to face. Exmoor Zoo prides itself on being different and offering a more personal touch. Talks and encounter sessions take place every half hour through the summertime making the Zoo and educational day out as well as a fun one.

You may have heard of The Big Sheep as it's one of the most popular attractions in Devon. Suited to families with children of all ages, this place is both fun and educational. Kids will love running around and playing in the playground and everyone can learn things at the regular sheepy shows. Sheep racing, bottle feeding and duck trails are just some of the delights to experience. Adults will also enjoy The Big Sheep with a garden centre and brewery on site too. This is an all-weather attraction with a difference.

The Big Sheep is located in the village of Abbotsham, just outside of Bideford. Follow the brown and white fish signs, which can be found on entry roads in and around Bideford. The recommended route is via the A39 Atlantic Highway, we are two miles west of the Bideford bridge.

No trip to Devon is complete without a visit to Dartington Crystal Factory Experience. See first hand how their crystal is hand crafted with skill and care from the blowing of the molten glass through to the final finishing. There's lots more to see and do that will make your visit truly memorable.

These are just a few places, but there are many more attractions to visit.
