About the Area
Le Bois Dormant is a 4 star holiday park situated in the Vendee region of France, just 10 minutes away from St Jean de Monts.
Driving time from St Malo is approximately 3 hours and approximately 5 hours from Caen or Cherbourg.
It is owned and run by ‘Siblu’ and focuses on family holidays. There are three good children's clubs for varying ages, as well as two heated swimming pools, a children's pool and flume, and a Jacuzzi.. This pool area is overlooked by the bar and restaurant, which serves good meals at reasonable prices, and a good takeaway facility. Also on site you will find tennis courts, a sports field and track, boules area, children's play area and table tennis.
Le Bois Dormant is a quiet, restful site, but if a livelier time is required its sister site Le Bois Masson is a five minute walk away. The fun passes to access these facilities can be purchased at reception, or we can order them for you. All facilities can be viewed in detail on the ‘Siblu’ website.
Wonderful, safe cycle paths run through the pine forests which take you to the superb beach at St Jean de Monts, a bustling seaside resort with an abundance of eateries. Outside evening entertainment is featured during high season, including fireworks. Another cycle route takes you to the quiet market town of St Jean which features a large indoor food market that sells all the excellent local produce; a food lover's paradise!. The local golf club, a woodland and links course, is worthy of any golfer.
Places to Visit
Within a short drive is St Gilles, a bustling fishing resort. Boat trips into the salt marshes can be taken from here. Another good beach is on the other side of the estuary.
The Isle of Noiumoutier features lovely quiet beaches, cycle routes and an oceanarium. Take the opportunity to sample the local mussels and oysters.
Les Sables D’Ollone, about an hour away, is another wonderful seaside resort with a zoo that is worth a visit. For the golf enthusiast, a little further on is Port Bourgenay with a lovely 18 hole course, and for the golfers like us who try to play it's a very good 18 hole, Par 3; well worth a visit. Then, why not lunch at the lovely marina of Port Bourgenay.
Last but not least, a must to visit if you have school age children is ‘Le Puys de Foys' near Cholet. This park depicts the history of the Vendee with elaborate shows running all day, culminating in a magnificent show and firework display. Fairly expensive, but well worth it!
