Caravan Description
Our holiday home is situated on 'La Reserve'; a Haven owned site in Gastes in the south west of France.
It is a contemporary chalet style mobile with all the comforts of home. There is a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and en-suite toilet and shower room., plus 2 twin bedded rooms with separate toilet facility.
There is a modern lounge/dining room with TV/DVD, and a fully fitted kitchen with an electric oven, gas hob, large fridge/freezer, compact dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster and kettle, plus a washing machine.
An air con/heating system has been installed in the mobile home.
Outside there is a covered deck the full length of the mobile home, a sun area with garden furniture and a gas barbecue.
Our pitch is south facing and includes parking for 4/5 vehicles. It is primarily an area of the site used for privately owned mobile homes.
La Reserve
La Reserve is a 4 star site that is kept clean and very secure. It benefits from many amenities which includes 3 large outside pools, flume slides, an indoor pool and jacuzzi, a poolside bar, restaurant and take away. The site also offers children's clubs and organised activities during each day.
At La Reserve you also benefit from a private lake and beach, with various water sports available there at extra cost. There is also an excellent Supermarché on site.
Out & About
You should however, visit the surrounding area; there are 2 great beaches nearby, Mimizan and Biscarosse and as this is the Atlantic side there is plenty of great surf. There are also lots of shops and restaurants at each resort.
Around the area there are plenty of sleepy French villages and other lakes to picnic or fish. You are also an hours drive from the wine capital of Bordeaux, and 40 minutes from Dune du Pyla, Europe's highest sand dune, which has breathtaking views of Archachon basin.
The more sophisticated beach resorts of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz are about 1½ hours drive.
Further afield you are 2 hours drive from Dordogne, The Pyrenees and the border of Spain.
