Owner's Description

Our Cosalt Eclipse has been purchased for the 2007 season, replacing the BK Calypso, and is a lovely caravan which sleeps 8 people.

It has 3 bedrooms (1 double, 2 twin) and a pull-out bed in the lounge. This caravan has an interesting design having a centre lounge, this means the two twin rooms are situated at one end of the caravan with a separate toilet, shower and sink, and the large double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet, situated at the other end of the caravan.

As with all of our caravans, it is kitted out very tastefully and has a full Haven inventory of appliances and kitchen equipment, plus a few more home comforts we have added ourselves.

You will however, be required to bring your own bedding (although duvets are supplied) as well as towels (including tea towels).

It is very conveniently situated next door to our Abi Sunrise which, we also have available to let, and so is ideal for multiple families who like to holiday together.

Weymouth Bay Caravan Park

Weymouth Bay is located about 4 miles from the centre of Weymouth in the heart of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. Weymouth Bay Caravan Park is a modern and well looked after site and along with its sister site, Seaview, has the usual Haven facilities that you can use and access by purchasing Weekly passes for the family (can be arranged at time of booking and costs depend on time of the year, see terms and conditions for info), although there is not a requirement to do so and the shop is still accessible without these passes.

On site there is a showbar, which has many events and activities going on. This also has a bar, kids shop and chip shop around the outside with seating on different levels. This is accessed past the reception, the owners lounge and the small amusement arcade.

Further down through the arcade is a very light and airy bar/restaurant area, which is very modern. The food menu has something for everyone and is cooked to perfection. Often on checking in/out days the many Haven characters are walking around this area.

Outside is a swimming pool separated into a paddling area and a pool which is not very deep but safety conscious. It is only open in good weather with lifeguards on call. Further round is the main pool which, although indoor, has a sliding roof so in good weather makes for a much larger outdoor pool. Alongside the outside pool is a large seating area and a small kid’s play area. The music from the bar/restaurant is pumped out here but usually this is quite pleasant.

At the front of the facilities is a well stocked shop with everything you could possibly need for your holiday, from the daily pint of milk and paper to sun cream and swimwear.

There is entertainment ongoing most of the day catering for the tots upwards, which is good if the weather is the typical UK summer. There is also a well stocked launderette, so if the need arises to do some washing while you are away, this is available up near St Andrews church, which is also very near the David Bellamy Wildlife walk and the dog walking area.

Seaview

Weymouth Bay's sister site of Seaview is another Haven Holidays site. This site is easily accessed from the Weymouth Bay Caravan Park either by a 10 minute walk or the shuttle bus that takes about 3 minutes and runs every hour during the holiday season.

This site has smaller facilities than Weymouth Bay but does give a good alternative/different to the entertainment. This has many of the same things as Weymouth Bay, except the outside pool has a slide and the amusement arcade is downstairs with the bar area above this, so if the kids wanted to play while you have a drink this is the place to be.

There is also another outside play area for the kids and seating area to watch them and a small shop.

The food menu is the same as at Weymouth Bay. It is also worth popping over just to see the different entertainment, which is a good alternative if you are spending more than a week on site.

Weymouth & Surrounding Area

Here are just a few of the local attractions on offer, although there are many more. Weymouth and the surrounding areas are worth exploring to the full.

Weymouth’s famous sandy beach – Weymouth's fine Georgian seafront is an impressive backdrop to the long arc of fine, golden sand. The beach and esplanade, historic harbour, marina and nature reserve encircle the rejuvenated town centre combining the traditional and modern to create a very special place to visit - at any time of year.

Lodmoor Country Park - Pitch and Putt golf, 350 acre walking park, RSPB Nature reserve, Leisure ranch, Mini railway and a skate park.

Weymouth Sealife Centre - based at Lodmoor Country Park.

Nothe Fort - Thousands of people visit the fort every year to see its architecture, displays, and special events in the courtyard. There are about 70 rooms on three levels that feature life sized models, detailed photographs, and writing about the fort. Several rooms look, smell, and feel like what life was like for the people in Weymouth during the Second World War. The fort has its own special team of model makers. There are currently more than 150 life sized dummy figures on display. The figures can be found at the entrance to Nothe Fort.

Deep Sea Adventure - The Deep Sea Adventure is a fascinating family attraction set in a converted Victorian Grain Warehouse. It uses animated displays, video, audio effects and computer games, to tell the story of underwater investigation and marine exploits from the 17th Century through to the most modem techniques in use today.

Brewers Quay - Amid the labyrinth of paved courtyards and cobbled streets of this redeveloped Victorian brewery, nestles a unique Shopping Village packed with specialist shops and attractions. Set within the historic Hope Square, alive with cafes, bars and bistros, Brewers Quay offers a unique experience for the whole family.

The Timewalk - Inspired by Weymouth’s turbulent past and strong maritime connections, the award-winning Timewalk attraction tells the fascinating story of the town as seen through the eyes of Ms Paws, the brewery cat and her eight feline ancestors. As the hands of the magic clock whirl backwards, prepare to take an unforgettable trip through nineteen life-like scenes, which recreate the sights, sounds and smells of six hundred years of history. Commentary is available in English, French or German.

Portland Bill - For Tourist Information and an excellent introduction to Portland's environment and heritage, visit the Lighthouse Visitor Centre at Portland Bill and enjoy a guided tour of the Trinity House Lighthouse.

Museums - Weymouth and Portland have a huge amount of history in maritime, farming, military, rural and current. Visitors to Weymouth and Portland will find our museums make a great day out for all the family.

Just along the coastline one way you have Abbotsbury, Bridport, Lyme Regis, Jurassic Coastline and Charmouth. Along the coastline the other way you have Osmington, Osmington Mills, Wareham, Wool, Durdle Dorr, Lulworth and a little further you have Poole and Bournemouth. To the north of Weymouth you have the historical town of Dorchester and a 30 minute drive away Yeovil.
