The harbour, great for crabbing, is the centre of the village and is surrounded by superb pubs and restaurants, as well as the quaintly painted snack kiosks where you can sample some great, fresh Fish & Chips!!!!!
For fine dining we can personally recommend the West Bay, and for fresh seafood the Riverside restaurant is a must.
West Bay is only 9 miles away from Lyme Regis, which has recently undergone a multi-million pound seafront redevelopment. This historic town is a must to visit and is famous for fossil hunting.
Weymouth is less than 20 miles away, and if you follow the coastal route you will be treated to some of the most spectacular views anywhere en route to the fantastic, gold sandy beaches of Weymouth or the olden day charms of Lulworth Cove.
There is also the Swannery at Abbotsbury, and in Dorchester there is the dinosaur and teddy bear museums.
West Bay provides some fantastic cliff top walks for the more energetic of you.
