Riverview Holiday Park
The caravan is set on Riverview Holiday Park, a quiet holiday park on the outskirts of the village of Newcastleton. It is an ideal base for walkers and cyclists with the start of the 7- Stanes biking tracks just a mile away.
The village has several shops including a butchers, mini-supermarket, newsagents, cafe/bakery and hardware. It also has 2 hotels/pubs with restaurants, a pub and the British Legion Club. It also has tennis courts, a bowling green and a scenic 9 hole golf course for the more energetic.
There is also an outdoor adventure centre about a mile and half away which is set in a 110 acre rural location (which his home to deer and red
squirrels) and has a swimming pool, climbing wall, high ropes, archery, kayaking, abseiling, gorge walking, mountain biking, zip-wire (2010) etc.
all of which can be booked at the centre.
Horse riding is also available at a local riding centre which is about 6 miles away at Bailey Mill.
For the more historically minded, there is Hermitage Castle nearby which was originally built (as a wooden sturcture) in the 13th century and was the sight of many a bloody battle between the Scots and the English - now it's quite a peaceful site set in the valley, with the river Liddle babbling by and a lovely, short bike-ride away!
Newcastleton is a good base for visiting other areas with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle just 1.5 hours away, the Lake District 1 hour away and Kielder Water 20 minutes away.
Part weeks may be booked with a minimum stay of 2 nights (please contact the owner for details).
