The lounge has a 32" wall mounted HDTV, HDDVD and video player. Sky free to air (non HD) TV is provided (approx 200 channels); however you are welcome to bring your own viewing card for premium Sky channels. A modest selection of mainstream and children's DVDs and videos is available for guests' use, but again you are welcome to bring your own.

The settee folds out to make a comfortable double bed for which a full set of bed linen is supplied.

Opposite the dining area there is the main entrance door and a fully fitted kitchen which includes a fridge/freezer, eye level combi microwave/grill, gas hob with extractor, and double gas oven/grill. The kitchen is equipped in keeping with the premium standard of the accommodation, including six full place settings and children's plates/cutlery.

Continuing through the caravan you come to the family bathroom featuring a generously sized shower over a hip bath and a centrally heated towel rail.

Opposite the bathroom is a twin bedroom which can be arranged to make a large double bed. To the rear is the master double bedroom with en-suite facilities including a shower.

Outside there is a timber decked area to the front and side, plus parking space for 2 cars.

Boat of Garten Holiday Park

Boat of Garten Holiday Park has a small communal play area for children, which is within sight of our caravan.

There is a coin operated launderette on site, however hand wash laundry facilities are free of charge. Guests have unlimited use of the park's shower and toilet facilities, too.

Just outside the holiday park is a well stocked reasonably priced village shop.

Mobile internet coverage is available, but seems to be limited to GPRS speeds.

From Boat of Garten it is just an 8 minute drive to the popular Cairngorm village of Aviemore, where there is a good selection of shops, a modest sized supermarket and plenty of places to eat.

There is free wi-fi is available at Smiffy's fish and chip restaurant which is near to the main line Railway station. High speed 3G and HSDPA mobile internet is also available in parts of Aviemore for those who need to stay in touch.

Location

Boat of Garten is a picturesque village, set amongst beautiful scenery on the edge of the Spey valley, surrounded by the Cairngorms National Park and ancient Scottish woodland. There is so much to see and do in this area. Here are just a few examples:

For walkers - the Speyside way is a stone's throw from the park and there are many miles of well kept footpaths in this part of the Cairngorm National Park.

For cyclists - Sustrans route 7 passes through the village. Aviemore is approximately eight miles away from where there is a large choice of routes for you to explore, many of which enjoy the peace and tranquility of being well away from the roads. Cycle and equipment hire is available locally or at places like Aviemore. Advance booking of hire equipment is recommended due to the ever increasing popularity of cycling holidays in this area. A secure cycle storage area will be available shortly at the holiday home.

For mountain bikers - the Forestry Commission's acclaimed Laggan Wolftrax centre a short drive away. You will not be disappointed!

For golfers - take your pick! This part of Scotland is a golfer's paradise. Golf Highland's website is a good place to check out local courses.

For fishermen and women - does the world famous River Spey, noted for the quality of its Salmon and Trout stocks, really need any further introduction?

For winter sports - the nearby Cairngorm Mountain centre offers some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Scotland. Further afield, the other Scottish ski centres can all be reached within an hour or so. Secure ski storage and a drying room will be available shortly at the holiday home.

For bird watchers - Boat of Garten's most famous residents, the Ospreys, can be seen at the RSPB's Osprey sanctuary which is just a couple of minutes away. They are a sight to behold if you're lucky enough to see them catching fish in the surrounding lochs and rivers. There are many other rare and threatened species of birds that thrive in this area, such as the Ptarmigan, for example.

For nature lovers - The Cairngorms enjoy a unique sub-Arctic micro climate in the British Isles (there are still odd patches of snow on the mountains in the summer) and as such are home to rare species such as the Ptarmigan and Great Britain's only Reindeer herd.

For Railway enthusiasts - why not take a steam train ride to Aviemore and enjoy a car free day out? Please check The Strathspey Railway's website for train dates and times.

A regular bus service operates between Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore calling at Boat of Garten. Service 34 operates from approximately 07:30 until late evening, connecting with some train services at Aviemore.

All passenger trains call at Aviemore, notably the Caledonian Sleeper service from the south and the Midday Intercity 125 train from London Kings Cross, which are both direct services, so you can get here by train and bus quite easily. It's also quite easy to have a day out in Inverness by bus and train.
