Local Area
In the caravan is a list of places to visit for all tastes by car or public transport.
Perranporth itself is timeless, lots of little beach shops, cafes, bars and a very handy Coop with free cash machine. The beach is beautiful with an excellent bar/cafe overlooking the sea. ideal in the evening when spectacular sunsets are common.
Newquay has the bigger shops and wonderful restaurants, yet still maintains it's magic with clean blue star beaches.
You must visit the Eden Project for a family day out. Nearby St Austel has a famous brewery. Do try their brews.
A little furthur along the south coast is Mevagissey, a charming fishing port and fresh fish. After your St Austel pint you must have the local fish and chips! The is one particular shop that must have a special gift, right for everyone.
On the North coast there is St Ives, a magnet for artists because of it's natural beauty. North of Newquay there is lots to do and see, Bedruthen Steps, Tintagel (King Arthur's castle), Padstow (Rick Stein's empire) and Port Isaac where Doc Martin was filmed.
However you don't have to travel at all, because the dunes to the side of us have lots of exciting historical relics, St Pirran's church, the Oratory (buried in sand for it's protection, hopefully to be cleared shortly (I went in it before it was buried). Old perranporth used to be here before wild sand storms covered it. You can walk for miles and see so many different scenes, rabbits, badgers, snakes (off the paths) and singing birds to help you along.
The locals love to stop and talk about this area. each seems to be an expert in something. One elderly lady has located 100 species of wild Orchid here. It is an area of scientific interest also. You can go the long way to the beach and see breath-taking views. We walk miles each day and still see new things. You will love it!
