Weymouth
Weymouth is a wonderful resort for families, with something to appeal to all ages.
For children and families try the Donkey rides, swing boats, trampolines, Punch & Judy show, helter skelter, crazy golf, amusement arcades, sand sculpture, “Deep Sea Adventure”, Sea Life Centre or buckets and spades and deckchairs on the beach.
For anyone who enjoys shopping you will find all the big name stores in amongst the smaller seaside shops and restaurants. Weymouth has a theatre and Multiplex cinema as well as lively adult pubs and clubs. For teenagers there is a skate park, go-karting and a fun fair.
Situated in the 'Old Harbour' you will find Brewers Quay, a re-developed Victorian brewery with arts & crafts, cafes, bars and bistros. There are specialist shops for food and drink, gifts, and all things collectable. For history and science visit 'The Timewalk', 'Weymouth Museum' and 'Discovery'.
For children there is Pooh & Pals and Born to Dance and for the creative children visit Crafty Arty's Castle.
From the delightful old harbour you can take a boat and go sea fishing, or if you prefer your boats to be larger you can take a day trip to Jersey on the Condor.
Perhaps you prefer nature walks around the Lodmore and Fleet Nature reserves or just want to see the Swans at the Swannery, Abbotsbury. You can enjoy the magnificent views along the coastal walks where you can explore the dramatic Jurassic coastline of Dorset, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Or pop across to Portland and visit the Portland Lighthouse.
A little further away is Dorset with its Dinosaur Museum. Or if you are a
military fan try Bovington Tank Museum or Fleet Air Museum.
Maybe you fancy a visit to Corfe Castle or Bennets Water Gardens.
Weymouth also holds events throughout the year including the International Kite Festival, Trawler Raceday, volley ball championships, Weymouth Carnival, firework displays and many more. See Weymouth Resort Guide for more information.
