The kitchen is a good size and includes a cooker, all new cutlery, pans, mugs, etc., and a kettle with tea coffee sugar. Again very clean and spacious.
The spotless and spacious lounge area can be closed off from the kitchen allowing you to relax and wind down. There is a little dining area just as you walk into lounge, but when you have used it to eat it could be used as another seat or somewere to keep the children happy. In fact, there’s plenty of room for the kids to play and enjoy themselves whilst you chill out. The lounge has a TV, comfy suite, another built in chair so you can look out onto the views, and also a fire.
Our caravan looks straight out onto ‘the comb’, which is a spectacular view. It also has decking around it enabling you to sit out with your breakfast, taking in the views. Also outside is a shed to store all your bits n bobs, ie. bikes, toys, fishing tackle etc.
Silecroft Holiday Park
Silecroft Holiday Park is a fabulous site overlooking the Blackcombe, and in the distance the mountains of the Southernlakes. It offers facilities such as an indoor heated swimming pool, saunas, laundry room and games room.
The Holiday Park is situated just 500 yards from the beautiful, shingly, pebbly beach, which is compleatly safe. It’s been the winner of the Green Flag award for its cleanliness.
If you take a small walk down the road into the little village, there’s a post office and small shop. There’s also the Miners Arms which does lovely food, and on Sundays they have either a hog, lamb etc., all cooked on a spit; it’s wonderful.
If you like horses, a little further down from the Miners Arms is a riding stable with ponies for the kids and even horses for adults. It’s great fun, the kids love it and it’s cheap! They will even take you to Silecroft beach for a ride on the beach.
Silecroft Holiday Park is only four miles from a little town called Millom where you will find a Post Office, hairdressers, shops, supermarket and tourist information centre. There’s also an Italian and Thai restaurant, a folk museum, tennis courts and a putting green.
There is a war in the woods, paint balling games for all the family to enjoy, paint balling is an exciting leisure activity from the age of 12yrs.
A couple of miles from Millom is Haverigg, which has further beaches, all of them being sandy, where you will find a café and places to buy things for the kids to play on the beach with. There’s also a big park and activity area.
Just a ten minute walk from Haverigg is Port Haverigg where you will find water skiing facilities. There’s always something going on especially around the holidays. I’m told it’s the place to be of a night, and there is also a lovely pub.
If you fancy going a little further afield Barrow in Furness is the main big town, and the local areas worth visiting are Lake Windermere, Southlakes Animal Park, Coniston waters, Waswaters, Ravenglass, Muncaster Castle, Grasmere, Ambleside, Duddon Waters, Hawkshead, Dock museum and many many more.
There are train stations at both Silecroft and Millom so you don’t have to drive everywhere.
It really is a different world here!
