Thorpe Park Holiday Village
Our caravan is situated at Thorpe Park in a quiet crescent of caravans, all under four years old.
Within easy walking distance is a shop and launderette, amusements and children’s play area with roller blading rink, tennis and crazy golf. Thorpe Park also has an indoor pool with water chute, separate children’s pool and a jacuzzi. Family friendly bars provide cooked breakfasts, snacks throughout the day and a full evening menu. There is a daily entertainment programme for both children and adults.
Outdoor activities include two fishing lakes, a nine hole golf course, pitch and putt course, playground, rides, trampolines, go karts, cycle hire and crazy golf. In addition, there is an on-site bakery and fish and chip shop.
NEW FOR 2008 is a fantastic heated outdoor pool with waterslides.
The caravan is only minutes’ walk from unspoilt sand dunes and clean, Blue Flag award winning beaches. The nearby Humber estuary is a wildlife sanctuary for sea birds and there are many walks in the surrounding countryside and salt marshes. A free tractor-train runs around the site at peak holiday times and there is a public bus service running though the holiday park right into Cleethorpes which is three miles away. A safe path and cycle track also runs along the edge of the sand dunes to the sea front and town.
Cleethorpes & Surrounding Area
Cleethorpes has something for everyone. A miniature steam train and road train run along the sea front daily. Although its Victorian past is still evident in its wide, child safe promenade, its pier and many flower beds, there are modern bars and restaurants too. The popular Pleasure Island Theme Park is close to the entrance to Thorpe Park and there is a small zoo and boating lake. You can also enjoy the multi-screen cinema, bowling alley and Lazer Quest or try the modern Leisure Centre with water chute and wave machine.
Nearby is the maritime town of Grimsby where you can visit the Fishing Heritage Centre. Surrounding Cleethorpes is beautiful countryside with quiet villages, windmills, nature reserves and fishing ponds.
The Lincolnshire Wolds is an area of outstanding natural beauty with many well marked walks and scenic drives. Also nearby is the historic market town of Louth and Lincoln with its cathedral and castle. Just across the Humber Bridge, Hull has an excellent variety of shops. The Deep aquarium is also worth a visit with all kinds of sea life from sharks to coral reefs.
