Quimper, the nearest city, is just a 10 minute stroll away and where you
will find magnificent medieval buildings, a museum, and the gothic cathedral
of St Corentin which dates back to the 16th century, not to mention an
abundance of shops, creperies, restaurants, an indoor market and weekly
outdoor market. Quimper is also home to the famous HB Henriot pottery and
you can visit the working museum and maybe purchase a sample.
The nearest beach is in Benodet which is about a 10-15 minute drive away.
It's a beautiful little seaside town with a lovely clean south facing beach.
Concarneau is a 'must' with its old walled city of 'Intra-Muros', cobbled
streets and olde-worlde atmosphere - wander the streets and discover the
lovely little shops and eateries and maybe stop for a lovely French lunch of
crepes or moulles (mussels) and a glass of the locally brewed cider. After
lunch why not try a novelty cruise - the shortest cruise in the world across
to the other side of the harbour!
Pont Aven is a beautiful, picturesque little village with each house having
as much individuality as its owner. Again it is a very popular destination
so it's advisable to get there early. Artists flock here to paint their
masterpieces and once you've been you'll understand why!
There are lots of villages and cities to visit in this part of the world and
all are uniquely beautiful, but to list them all would be exhaustive, and
it's nice to find some for yourself too.
Closer to home on the fun theme is a bowling alley and adventure park just 300m away and at
500m there's the Aquarive swimming pool which has a jaccuzzi, wave pool and
slide etc.
