Les Charmettes
Les Charmettes is a 4 star flagship park owned and run by Siblu and is regarded one of the best sites in France.
Situated on the outskirts of Les Mathes, a small village just 3 miles from the beaches at La Palmyre, it is true to say that Les Charmettes has just about everything.
The site consists of a massive pool area, 2 large water slides to keep the kids entertained, and a heated indoor pool area with jacuzzi, all with excellent lifeguards on standby.
There is an indoor entertainments area where all the shows take place, with full bar facilities. There is also a separate bar (the pub) directly across this area which is usually a little quieter with large screens for sporting events.
The site also includes a small supermarket, restaurant, take away, creperie, launderette, hairdressers, bicycle hire, mini golf and tennis courts.
Out & About
There are plenty of attractions nearby: La Palmyre beach with its glorious sandy beaches are 3 miles away with cycle paths along the way; La Palmyre Zoo is only 5 minutes away by car from the site and is one of the best zoos in France, if not the best, so visiting it is a must especially if you have children.
If you like a round of golf there are two golf courses nearby, one in La Palmyre just after the zoo, which is a newly developed 9 hole course set along the La Palmyre coastline. Further up the road you will find the Royan golf club which is another excellent course with 18 holes.
There are some beautiful villages nearby that are worth a visit too including Mornac sur Seudre, classed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, a classic Charente coastal village situated on the left bank of the River Seudre. It is ideal for strolling around wandering in and out of small craft shops and boutiques. Another village worth a visit is Brouage, a fortified town with cobblelock streets which has changed very little over the centuries.
There is so much to do and see in this area that it will make your holiday one to remember for years.
