L'Hippocampe
L'Hippocampe is a 4 star site and part of the La Sirene site which is across the road. As a customer you have access to all the facilities in both sites.
L'Hippocampe has a lovely tropical pool complete with slides and toddler pool, a bar with nightly entertainment, reception, a clothes washing area with washing machines, a large children's playground, a football pitch and boules area.
In La Sirene you have access to a large food court with a take away service.
There is also a bakery for lovely fresh bread every morning and a small supermarket for day to day groceries. A large supermarket, Carrefour is just
5 minutes away.
The swimming pool in La Sirene is huge and for an extra charge you can get swimming lessons, scuba diving lessons and kayaking lessons.
There are nightly shows in the large entertainment area in La Sirene; The Lion King and The Blues Brothers being a huge favourite in our house. There is also a late night pub for night owls and a teenage disco for the older kids.
There are also 2 shops also for papers, presents, swim wear and kids toys.
In high season there is a free bus service from the campsites to the local beaches or a 'Petit train' that goes to the Village and beaches at a small charge.
Local Area
There is so much to do, but never enough time!!
Firstly you are just 20 minutes away from the Spanish border and 2 and a half hours from Barcelona.
Take the 'Petit tourist train' to the local beach area. This area is full of fabulous restaurants, great shops for all the family and lots of great things for the kids to do. There is a bouncy village, lots of amusements to play on and lots of ice cream to eat. This area also comes alive at night for all ages.
Argeles is a typically French village with shops, bakeries, restaurants, train station and a weekly market.
Also worth a visit are the beautiful towns of Collioure and Banyuls, where drinking a cold glass of Banyuls is a must.
