There are two shower rooms, each with its own basin and toilet, and there are plenty of cupboards and storage in all areas.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and living/dining room with satellite TV/DVD/CD player and a radio/cassette player. The TV shows all the main French channels (good for local weather and for practising your French) and has many foreign channels including BBC World, Sky News and France 24, all in English.
Pillows and duvets are provided. Bed linen is not provided but we can arrange hire on site for a fee of £10 per person, so you may prefer to bring your own bed linen as well as towels.
Outside there is a large terrace, partially covered so that you can decide to eat in the sun or the shade. As well as the garden table and 8 chairs, there are two sun loungers and a barbeque.
Inside there is air conditioning (reversible to provide heating if you choose to come in a cooler period of the year), fans, a hairdryer, iron and all the equipment you will need for cooking, eating and drinking.
Information about the park and its facilities can be found on the Siblu website
Local & Surrounding Area
There are excellent shops nearby with two shopping centres grouped around the Auchan and Carrefour hypermarkets. These include Satoriz, a bio
(wholefood) shop, and some of our British friends cannot resist the local IKEA.
There are plenty of local markets, but the biggest and best is the bustling Sunday market in Lattes.
There are places to visit to suit all tastes: Lattes and Perols, Palavas les Flots, beaches at Carnon, and Grand and Petit Travers. In Lattes itself there is an archaeological museum, the Maison de la Nature, and excellent walks in the Méjean nature reserve, where there are flamingoes, storks, egrets and herons all year round.
Not far past the local beaches is La Grande Motte and the Petite Camargue, the medieval walled town of Aigues Mortes and the capital of the Camargue, the Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, which is now a seaside resort in the Rhone Delta.
The excellent motorway network makes it easy to get by car to Nîmes, Arles, the Pont du Gard and Avignon in the east; to Sète, Béziers, Narbonne, Carcassone, the abbeys and Cathar castles, and Perpignan (and even to north east Spain) to the west and south west.
To the north are extraordinary landscapes, gorges and grottos, the picturesque old village of Saint-Guilhem le Désert, the Cévennes National Park, and the spectacular bridge at Millau, which is surprisingly close.
Not to be forgotten is Montpellier itself – even if you have a car, we would recommend using the park-and-ride at one of the local tram lines. In Montpellier in July there are scores of concerts for the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier (12th to 30th July 2010).
Travelling There
Both Ryanair and Easyjet fly to Montpellier airport itself, and Ryanair also fly to Nîmes (about 45 minutes away) and to Carcassone (only 90 minutes away by motorway) giving a wider choice of British departure airports and arrival times. Cars can be hired from all the airports.
There is an excellent TGV service from Montpellier to Paris, and also to Perpignan and Toulouse.
There are lots of possibilities by car: from Calais, ViaMichelin recommend going by Paris, Orleans, down the A71 and A75, crossing the bridge at Millau and crossing the Massif Central and the Cévennes. ViaMichelin estimates that this takes about 9 hours 30 minutes. It could be slightly faster to take a route further east passing close to Reims and Lyon. However, you need to allow for the possibility of holiday traffic especially at weekends in summer. A slower route from Orleans comes down the A71 and A20 through the Limousin, close to Cahors, Toulouse and Carcassonne. Alternatively you can avoid the motorways and enjoy a drive across France; but allow plenty of time, France is a very big country.
