There is a separate WC and a shower room with wash basin. Instant hot water is supplied to the kitchen and shower room via a gas boiler located in the kitchen.
For your convenience and to help you keep up with your favourite soaps or just to see what’s going on at home, satellite television/radio via a freesat digibox is provided, together with a DVD/CD player.
Outside, there is a raised wooden terrace equipped with a table and 6 chairs, 2 sun loungers and a BBQ.
Camping Les Dunes
Camping Les Dunes is a superb 4 star appointed modern holiday complex catering for families of all ages.
It nestles behind the protected sand dunes that border the beautiful sandy beach of the Atlantic ocean, stretching as far as the eye can see. This stretch of coast is regarded as one of the best surfing areas in Europe. Surfing, wind/kite surfing and body boarding are all in abundance. If you want tuition, there is a fully equipped surf and sailing school a few minutes walk along the beach.
When the tide goes out, rock pooling is the natural pastime for young and old alike.
With direct access from the camp site on foot, you can forget the car and enjoy a relaxing day on the beach. It is only a short walk back home for lunch and siesta.
The central feature of the site is the swimming pool complex which boasts three outdoor pools, one with two slides and an indoor heated pool complete with jacuzzi. Adjacent to the pool complex there is a restaurant and bar which serve a good selection of food and drink throughout the day. In addition they also provide a takeaway meal service.
The supermarket next door is well stocked and opens early morning for your fresh croissants and bread that is baked on site.
During the peak season (July & August) there is a comprehensive entertainment programme with supervised activities and competitions for all ages throughout the day. The evening programme is centred on the stage adjacent to the pool complex and consists of live music, karaoke and other live entertainments to cater for all tastes.

Off Site - Things To Do
Activities close to the site include:
- Horse Riding
- Parc d'Attractions - an exciting children's activity park situated within easy walking distance.
- Vendee Miniature - a superb model village complete with its own steam train.
- Golf - 3 courses nearby.
- Windsurf & sail school - tuition is given on its own inland lake.
- Fishing.
- Cycling - take advantage of the well signposted off road cycle tracks that run along the coast and through the forests to the local villages. Bikes can be hired at reception.
In summer the BBQ hardly ever gets cold, but if you fancy a change, in addition to the facilities on site, there are 3 restaurants within easy walking distance; one directly opposite the entrance. All are worth a visit.
Local Towns
The delightful town of Bretignolles is a 5 minute car drive away. It has a pleasant square where the market is held twice a week every Sunday and Thursday morning. In addition there is a large supermarket (Super U) complete with a pharmacy and fuel station. It has adequate parking space where you can leave your car in order to wander round the town. There is also a Post Office and banks, all with ATMs, and several bars and souvenir shops.
In the opposite direction there is the town of Brem, a smaller but equally nice town, also with its market days.
Look out for the notice boards in the towns advertising many fetes that are held throughout the summer. Any excuse to eat and drink!
Hypermarkets are located a little further a field in St Gilles and Les Sables d’Olonne.
Credit/Debit cards
All major credit and debit cards are widely accepted in supermarkets and most restaurants. They had chip and pin long before us!

The Vendee is a wonderful region of France, well worth days out for exploring the superb countryside and fabulous coastline. It has many hidden gems and information on where to go can be found in our scrapbook in the home or by visiting reception or the tourist office in Bretignolles.
