The village of Mache is in the Vendee, where the mobile home is sited (Pays de la Loire). The village of Apremont, with its medieval castle, is only a 5 minute drive away, and in the opposite direct is the town Aizenay, which has a reasonably priced garage that does not cost you the earth, plus a huge hypermarket at the edge of town.

There are plenty of lakes around here, so it is good for fishing almost all year round. Permits for fishing are available, daily or weekly at the café/tabac locally

Mache

It is only a 5 minute walk into the village of Mache, where you will find a hairdresser, baker’s, a café/bar called Megabar, which is very child friendly and has a pool table, table football, video games and electronic dartboards (as metal pointed darts are not legal in France). Megabar is run by two young mothers and welcomes children.

One thing to point out is that all cafés and bars in France are now completely non smoking.

Coex

Coex is a 10 minute drive from here where you will find an 18-hole golf course, a restaurant, small supermarket, and a couple of bar/café’s.

Challans

This is quite a large town and on Tuesday morning it has the biggest market and fish market around this area, where you can buy just about anything. It is 20 kilometres from here. The town has a vast range of designer shops, hypermarkets and large electrical stores, garden centres and sports grounds.

Apremont Beach

Apremont has a small man made sandy beach where you can hire pedaloes, motorboats and canoes. There is also a restaurant/pizzeria opposite the lake, and a mini golf area as well as the 16th century medieval castle, a bakers and three cafes.

The Seaside

The nearest beach is about a 25 minute drive from here, St Gilles Croix De Vie. It has very sandy beaches and lots of seafood restaurants.

Airports

If you are flying, the nearest airport is Nantes Atlantique which is about 1 hours drive from here, or La Rochelle which is about a two hour drive from here. I don’t recommend hiring a car from the airport as it is quite expensive, the taxi fare from Nantes Airport is between 100 - 120 euros for a one way trip, the cheaper option for you would be that I pick you up from Nantes Airport and bring you to the mobile home.

If you wish, dependant on the size of your party, I will take you to Hyper U, a large supermarket in Aizenay where you can hire a car for only 29 euros per day; you can have up to three named drivers on the hire car at no extra cost.

Rental prices are for 1st January to 31st December 2008

A deposit of £100 is payable at time of booking. The remaining balance must be paid 4 weeks prior to the holiday.

The rental period is from Saturday to Saturday. The prices below are for a 7 day rental.
Arrival time is 12.30 onwards.
Departure time is 10.30 am.
