The Location
Puerto de la Duquesa is situated between Marbella and Gibraltar on the Costa del Sol .
The port itself has an attractive marina with a wide promenade and a range of shops, restaurants and bars. It is a lovely place to take a stroll, have a drink or just sit and people watch.
Behind the port lies Duquesa golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, it has 18 holes and great views of the coast and Gibraltar.
Duquesa, Sabinillas and Estepona all have long wide beaches which are good for swimming.
Things To Do
The apartment is great for golfers. Other than Duquesa golf course, which is right next door, there are numerous other courses within a 10 minute drive such as Dona Julia, Estapona, and Casares. If you are interested in golfing whilst on your holiday, do contact us and we can give you more information on where to get discounts. Duquesa golf course also has a great spa to help you relax at the end of the day, with a full range of different treatments.
Other activities include mountain biking, quad biking tours, sailing, diving, waterskiing, banana boat and donut rides, dolphin and whale watching tours. The wealth of flora and fauna also make hill walking and bird watching popular.
There are many great places to visit within a 30 minute drive including:
Casares - a pretty hillside village in the mountains of Ronda; Selwo Safari Park in Estepona; Selwo Marine Park and cable car in Benalmadena.
Local street markets are always fun to have a wander around. Sabinillas has a market on Sunday, Castilo on Tuesday and Estepona on Wednesday.
We keep a range of tourist information and leaflets in the apartment, but for more information there is a tourist office in Puerto de la Duquesa.
Travel
The nearest airports are Malaga (50 minutes) or Gibraltar (25 minutes). Many of the budget airlines fly to these airports from the UK including Easyjet, Monarch and Thomsonfly. Flights usually cost between £60 to £100 return per person depending on the time of year and day of travel.
We suggest that you hire a car at the airport. Car hire starts at about £80 a week for something small. The roads in this area are very good and driving is relatively easy. We can send you directions of how to get to Duquesa ahead of your arrival. Hire car companies at Malaga airport include Carjet, Record, Avis and Hertz.
