The 5 bedrooms are all light and airy. There is one ground floor bedroom
(twin beds) and 4 first floor bedrooms ( 2 x doubles, 1 x twin and 1 x bunk
beds - suitable for adults and children), with the ability to accommodate 10
adults or two
families easily.
There are bathrooms on both floors, one with shower, the other with bath and
shower.
The large lawned garden has a BBQ and table, chairs and parasol for 10
people. There is also parking for up to 4 cars.
The owners also provide a welcome pack of English teabags, English mustard
and marmalade for your convenience.
English speaking colleagues are available, literally just up the road, to
provide any advice or support during your stay. The villagers are very
friendly and many also speak English. Several English families have bought
properties in the village.
Local Area
The village has three pubs, two supermarkets, a hairdressers, a bank, bakery
and well equipped children's playground. There are indoor and outdoor
swimming pools locally.
The village is situated only 30 minutes from Frankfurt Hahn airport
offering frequent cheap flights from Stanstead and reasonably priced car
hire. It is also only a 5 hour drive from Calais (mainly along the E42).
The village is a short drive from Zell, on the Moselle, renowned for wine
growing, festivals and river cruises, with dramatic mountainside vineyards
and picturesque houses alongside the bank of the river. There are numerous
walks through forests and traditional German villages making it a rambler's
paradise.
There is a local volcano, zoos, theme parks, and a wide range of other
attractions for all of the family. There are numerous restaurants, pubs and
take aways locally at very reasonable prices - such as an 'all you can eat
breakfast' for 2 euros and a two course lunch for 5 euros. The local Globus
supermarket also provides free baby food and nappies!
The nearest town is Kastellaun, only 10 minutes away. It has all the modern
shopping facilities available including Lidl and Aldi. The major town of
Simmern is about 20 minutes away.
Local activities include cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding, mountain
biking, swimming, tennis, walking and river cruises. Bike hire is 6 euros a
day in Zell.
There are also German castles to visit and numerous vineyards and beer/wine
festivals. The area is famous for Black Cat wine but also produces an
excellent range of red and white wines starting from 1 euro a bottle. German
Pils beer is also very cheap at 25 cents (from the supermarkets)!
Day trips by train are available to Trier and Frankfurt for only circ 25
euros for up to 5 people, which includes all bus journeys during the day.
The village is only an hour's drive from Belgium and one and a half hours
away from Luxembourg and France.
